Active Schools

Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership offer a number of initiatives to help schools provide Physical Activity / Sport programmes to their pupils in both the Primary and Secondary School setting.

Girls Active

Girls Active is a joint programme between the Health Services Executive North West, Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership and Youth Sport West and is aimed at teenage girls who are not currently participating in sport.

Athletics Festival

Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership hosts an annual Primary Schools Athletics Fest at the IT Sligo Athletics Arena open to primary schools all over the county.

Ag Súrgadh le Chéile

Ag Sugradh Le Chéile or ‘Playing Together’ is a programme which encourages active play between parents/carers and children the programme was developed by the Health Service Executive and supported by the SSRP.

Buntús Generic and Buntús Start

Buntús Generic is a primary school sports/PE initiative to support teachers in the delivery of both curriculum PE and extra-curricular sporting programmes.

The Buntús Start programme is co-ordinated locally by Sligo County Childcare Committee in association with Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership and the Health Service Executive-West.
