Community Sport

Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership Community Sport Project aims to improve the quality of life in local rural and urban communities through increased participation in sport and physical activity in community settings.

Disability Sport

Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership launched its new Sports Inclusion Disability Project in May 2008. The partnership has appointed a Sports Inclusion Disability Officer (SIDO) to oversee the management of the project whose aim is to increase participation by people with a disability in sport and active recreation.

Cranmore Regeneration

The Cranmore Regeneration Project which was initiated in 2005 by Sligo Borough Council is a plan of action aimed at improving the quality of life in the Cranmore Estate in the East Ward of Sligo through better co-ordination of services, community development and integrated planning. During the initial development of the project the contribution sport and recreation can make to enhanced quality of life was acknowledged.

Outdoor Recreation

Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership is committed to encouraging and supporting the use of the outdoors for sports and recreation. The range of activities supported by SSRP include: Walking, Cycling, Water Sports, Outdoor Gym Programmes, Climbing

Women in Sport

Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership works closely with the Irish Sports Council through the ‘Women in Sport’ programme and local clubs/ community groups to promote increased participation by girls and women in sport and active recreation.

Active Seniors

Physical Activity programmes to promote the increased participation in active recreation by older adults are supported by Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership in conjunction with the Health Service Executive.
