Curry’s GAA Heathy Club’s Men on the Move Initiative
SSRP were delighted to support a Men on the Move programme with Curry GAA Heathy Club, to encourage men over the age of 35years to get more active, have fun and improve their fitness levels.
The programme is focused towards inactive men over the age of 35 years to get them active and moving! The benefits of leading an active lifestyle are wide and ranging and extend to both physical and psychological improvements.
Community Sport Development Officer Diane Middleton Cox noted
Men on the Move was delivered with Curry GAA Healthy Club, supported by SSRP in conjunction with the HSE to create a non-judgemental environment where men can connect in their community with whom they can relate, to get active, have fun and improve not just their physical health but mental health and wellbeing.
This 6 week programme was led by SSRP Fitness Coach Daithi O’Reilly who introduced the men to exercise, or welcome men back after some time away in a fun and relaxed environment. It included twice weekly classes at the club, and finished up with an additional ‘Positive Mindset’ workshop with JohnGCoaching, giving them all plenty of food for thought on how we use our time and the importance of taking time out.
