Sport & Recreation: A Way of Life in Sligo

We work with sports clubs, communities and schools to facilitate physical activity programmes and events that promote increased participation in sport and physical activity. We build capacity by providing training and education opportunities for clubs, communities, coaches and volunteers.

Our Aim

Our aim is to increase participation in sport and physical activity by ensuring there is a broad range of opportunities for everyone in County Sligo.

We believe that sport and physical activity should be enjoyable, make us feel good, improve our health and wellbeing, increase our skills and introduce us to new people and places.

We work with over 50’s age groups, Active Age Clubs and organisations catering for older to develop Physical Activity programmes.

SSRP facilitates generic and sports specific training and education initiatives for volunteers, coaches and administrators. Programmes include: Safeguarding Training, NGB supported courses, Disability Inclusion Training, Coaching Children’s and sports specific courses for minority NGBs.
