Schools Get Rowing with ‘Get Going – Get Rowing’

‘Get Going Get Rowing’ is a school initiative developed by Rowing Ireland.

It aims to introduce students to a new sport of indoor rowing and give them a pathway for life to continued participation.The classes are structured but fun and include rowing whilst learning the Olympic values of respect, dignity and fair-play.

The Urban Outdoor Adventure Initiative supported 3 schools with in Sligo Town to deliver the programme with opportunities provided by Sligo Rowing Club for students who complete the indoor rowing programme to experience rowing on the water as a follow on taster session.

The highly successful Indoor Rowing Blitz for secondary schools ran in 2019 and 2020 and will be an annual feature on the school sports calender, with over 500 students introduced to rowing.
