Ready to Go Orienteering Training Course
Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership is delighted to partner with Orienteering Ireland to run a Ready to Go Orienteering training course in Sligo for teachers, leaders, coaches, volunteers.
This is a 5hour practical course taking place mainly outdoors, suitable for leaders / teachers / coaches/ volunteers.

- Time: 9.30am to 2.30pm
- Location: Sligo Sports Complex Sligo
- Cost: €15 per participant (DEIS Schools, Special Schools, Disability Organisations free of charge, limited spaces)
The Ready to Go Orienteering Course is part of the Urban Outdoor Adventure Initiative, a Sport Ireland project funded through Dormant Accounts.
The course content will include:
- An introduction and understanding of Orienteering,
- Key Skills of the sport,
- Activities to teach these skills,
- MapRun App and Courses
Attendees will receive a Certificate of Attendance on the day and a Resource Folder with 14 Games Cards on weatherproof paper and access to pintables’ and other resources for Orienteering after the course.
This course is suitable for leaders / teachers / coaches / volunteers and valued at €110 per person.
- Optional Equipment Pack can be purchased for €132 from Orienteering Ireland and includes (10 kites, 10 punches and 100 control cards) / Free to DEIS Schools/ Special Schools/ Disability Organisations
- Optional School/ Centre Facility Mapping at a cost of €300+ available / €75 for DEIS Schools / Special Schools/ Disability Organisations
