On Monday and Tuesday last, the thrilling sound of ping pong balls echoed across County Sligo as the Table Tennis Roadshow made its energetic mark, delivering taster sessions to 355 enthusiasts of all ages.
Hosted by Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership in partnership with Table Tennis Ireland, the roadshow featured the expertise of coach and former professional player Jing Yi Graham, who brought her passion and skills to eager participants. From young enthusiasts to seasoned players, the roadshow had something for everyone, making table tennis accessible and enjoyable for all.
The taster sessions showcased the fast-paced and entertaining nature of table tennis, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie among participants and providing a welcoming environment for all. The success of the roadshow was not only measured by the impressive skill development but also by the smiles and laughter that filled the venues.
On Tuesday morning students and staff from Rathcormac NS were up bright and early to welcome a special guest, Deric Hartigan from Ireland AM, to their taster session. Deric and his team captured the roadshows activities live for the nation to see. There was great fun and excitement experienced by all the students.
Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership expressed gratitude to Jing Yi Graham of Table Tennis Ireland, for her engaging sessions and to the participants in all the venues, 6 schools, and 4 centres across the county and for making the roadshow a tremendous success. Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership looks forward to linking with communities, schools and clubs in future initiatives that continue to promote the love of table tennis throughout the county.
