As part of Women in Sport Week 2023, Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership are delighted to be hosting the Women in the middle seminar. This is an exciting opportunity to support your journey ,or the journey of friends/family/club members, through this phase of life. The seminar will provide good practical examples of how to fit exercise and training into busy lives and hear some simple methods of self care and recovery. Through Women in the Middle, this important topic will be openly discussed and ensure those who are in midlife get the exercise and training support they need. Menopause is a unique experience for each woman. Most women will experience menopausal symptoms at some stage in their life, this a great opportunity to find out how to manage and counteract symptoms. The workshop is suitable for women, men, coaches and instructors.
This workshop will be delivered by Dr. Diane Cooper. Dr Diane Cooper is a Clinical Exercise Physiologist and Health Researcher and the Founder and CEO of EduFIT, an online health education and functional fitness company based in Laois. Diane has a 20-year career in designing, implementing, and evaluating evidence-based physical activity and health interventions funded by Healthy Ireland, Sport Ireland, Sláintecare, Pobal, Laois Sports Partnership, and the HSE. Diane’s research and practice currently focuses intensively on women’s health, the menopause, and the role of exercise and lifestyle medicine in promoting wellness in perimenopause, menopause and post-menopause. Diane is very passionate about teaching women the exercise and lifestyle skills and knowledge they need to promote a long health and wellness span. Diane is the host of The Health and Fitness Show on Midlands 103. In her spare time, she takes part in adventure racing, hill running, and resistance training.
