The Women’s Try a Tri Initiative is a 6 week training programme, where participants are coached in run, bike and swim lessons. These sessions run twice a week starting with swim sessions from the 21st August at the Regional Sports Complex from 6-7pm, and Brick session (cycle and run) starting the 24th August at 6.30pm at Cleveragh Regional Park (Park across the road from the Sports Complex). These sessions will be coached by experienced trainers who have worked on initiatives before and have an inclusive approach.
The event culminates in a mini-triathlon which is a 250metre swim, 10km cycle and a 3km run on Sunday 2nd October 2022 all happening at the Regional Sports Complex and the park across the road and promises to be a great day out for both participants and supporters.
Critical to the running of the event is the system of mentoring, where participants from the previous year’s initiatives provide support to the new participants.
This initiative is led by Sligo Triathlon Club with support from Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership, Triathlon Ireland and Sport Ireland.
